I don’t need to tell you there are differences between men and woman.. but differences aside we all deserve to have a great image of ourselves. We need that photo for immortality, document our life for those we love to remember us, to remind us in our daily lives who we are and what we have accomplished. It has been such a journey to get to this point in my life and business and I couldn’t be happier, but with every journey you must continue to grow. So I knew that there was another side of DISCOVER that I had not tapped into, MEN! Those elusive souls who are a wee bit camera shy and cringe at the thought of posing, dressing up and being told what to do. Enter Derek.. a comrade from back in the day home visiting his old stomping grounds. I bumped into him at Homesense and after briefly catching up I threw it out there if he would be my “muse” for a day. Little did Derek know at the time that this was in fact more of a challenge for me then it was a gift to him.

The challenge was a success and I believe Derek was pleasantly surprised by the experience and outcome. Thanks to Derek for being my guinea pig and I wish you safe travels!

There are days that I truly feel like I am banging my head up against the wall.. taking 1 step forward and 10 back. I believe we all feel that sometimes. Just when you think the universe has doled out enough shit you are given the most extraordinary opportunities that lift your spirits and make it all worth it. I think the following words sum up how incredible this past weekends session was..

“Dearest Shannon. I will thank you until the end of time. Be proud. You’ve given a woman a moment in time that will only enhance and liberate. God has given you a gift that is specific to you and I know full well you’re using it in the best way possible. Well done!! -Robyn

Robyn was nominated by her sister-in-law Miranda for the gift of a DISCOVER session. Her nomination brought me to tears after reading the eloquent email Miranda wrote about the past years turmoil. Its funny how I sympathized with Robyn’s plight she and I both had our worlds turned upside down in very different ways but a way that made us both have to decide whether we were going to let this break or make us?

I am not sure who got more out of this session, Robyn has one of the most beautiful souls. Her smile is contagious and her ability to look at the good in everything certainly attests to her courage and faith. She is the mother of two young children a daughter and son who are her everything. Robyn never thought this would be her life, but she is learning to make the best of it and appreciate and enjoy all the little moments. Thanks Robyn for being present, it truly was an honour to capture this time in your life and show your BEAUTIFUL inside and out!

Recently I unveiled DISCOVER, this was a side project that blossomed into a full “Division” of . DISCOVER, for adults only is about celebrating beauty, inside and out. This unique session is an experience with a focus on rekindling passion for yourself and each other.

To celebrate this wonderful new business within Shannonview I offered the GIFT of a FREE session via a nomination process. This beautiful woman was one of the lucky recipients of this very special gift. A wife, mother and artist herself she truly wanted to savor this time in her life and celebrate her beautiful.

I love the fact she woke up at the crack of dawn to add the finishing touches so we could shoot her in the best light and was open to trudging through a rocky river bed, battling wicked weeds in a jungle and lastly standing on display downtown for our final setting.

I never know who is more nervous when we start, my clients or me.. I always have butterflies of anticipation, ideas and visions popping in my head and the goal is to make the session as comfortable as possible for the subject. This wonderful woman rocked, what a wonderful experience for both of us!
